Sometime in late First Seed this one she received a letter at Castle Claws inviting her to travel secretly to the Summerset Isles.
This one was directed to a mysterious location in Daggerfall. Down a side street to an old warehouse. At this point Khajiit began to think that her suspicions regarding her apprentices were all true and that they had lured her away from home just to raid the kitchen.
A creaky wooden door lay before her yes and she opened it with caution. This one heard the chattering voices of humans and so carefully ascended some ancient wooden stairs towards the direction of the voices.
At this time Khajiit received helpful messages from her guild confirming that they, in conjunction with the apprentices, were enjoying themselves mightily going through Castle Claws and vandalising the good wine and yarn.
Then another set of scary stairs, Glowing lights, flowers, a portal (Khajiit hates portals) and this one arrived on the docks. The familiar sound of angry gulls and the sweet smell of fish. Then the slightly less sweet smell of elves. Actually they smell like very old shoes disguised with too much perfume to this one.
Tall white buildings, many flowers - in the distance there was a beach with strange tall rock structures. It reminded Khajiit a little of the stories she has read about the kingdom of Toussaint. Ah sweet stories of far off lands! They entertain and inspire us yes.
After checking the ears and paws were all still where they should be this one felt in need of a drink and checked the map to find the nearest tavern. Luckily there was one nearby. However the need for refreshment was thwarted by our old friend Razum Dar who told Khajiit firmly she was not there for fun and relaxation no - there was work to be done! Always the world it must be saved and always Khajiit is mysteriously deemed to be the most capable candidate for this task for reasons she really does not understand.
After noting down carefully what was required Khajiit totally ignored Raz and went to the tavern anyway. This one became exceedingly refreshed and the Summerset Isles became even more vibrant in colour and ever so slightly wobbly.
So Khajiit had completed the first part of every tourist agenda - refreshment - and set out to complete the second part - distressing the local population.
The first part of this involved a visit to a local temple. Delightfully furnished in polished wood and green cloth in a way that was most pleasant to the eyes. The temple undercroft required some refurbishment though and was suffering from a minor infestation of daedra.
Then Khajiit took a walk along the beach, through many elegant rock structures. The mudcrabs are a little different here but in a way that allows them to blend into their environment when needed. This one has yet to establish if they taste any better. In fact this one did not get time to try any local restaurants at all but will be sure to do so when she returns later in the year.
The rest of local wildlife was varied and bitey. Along the beach there were large lizards. On more verdant ground Khajiit also saw welwa, previously only known to this one in Craglorn. This one also saw large winged beasts occasionally but chose to keep her distance from them while not well equipped and also drunk. Khajiit also recalls seeing some imps and pink unicorns but they may have been a side product of the wine bottle yes.
After this Khajiit did what she usually does. She picked a direction and ran as fast as it was possible to do so without spilling too much yes. Stopping only to pick every flower - which were the same kind as we find throughout the rest of Tamriel. Khajiit did not find any new nodes or materials of any kind - nor any new recipes - but it is possible this one just did not come across them in the short time of her visit. This one also looked for any crafting tables but did not see these either.
This one found a public dungeon but did not wish to enter on her own. Then not too far away this one found herself in what appeared to be an abandoned zoo but kept running as the residents appeared dangerously hungry and not fussy eaters.
Luckily for Khajiit her travels were curtailed at this point before she became nothing more than a snack. We were recalled back to the other side of the portal and our travels on snooty elf island were over for now.
Khajiit hopes that by the time she returns Raz will have forgotten all about the tasks this one she was given.
And yes this one will return. To try and sample the local mudcrabs, drink some more of the local vintages and take the apprentices for a day out to that angry zoo in thanks for what they did to Castle Claws while this one was away. The beautiful collection of salmon. All gone!
Khajiit found the Summerset Isles to be visually very impressive, even though at this early stage obviously not quite ready for mass tourism. This one would have liked to investigate aspects of the crafting of jewellery but could not locate any crafting areas and suspects they may not yet have been built.
So would Khajiit recommend a holiday in Summerset? Yes she would. The wine is excellent, the landscape is beautiful and the beaches have the potential to be glorious if you like being nibbled by giant lizards whilst sunning the fur.
Khajiti did not see any accommodation suitable for travellers who are planning on purchasing a residence and settling. As this one has already stated though there is still much to be done before Summerset is ready for the arrival of large numbers of visitors. In the time this one was there she also was not able to investigate the legandary secret magical things that she is sure she cannot spell.
This one returned home to her worst fears realised. The apprentices were all gathered in the kitchen. Puddle was trying to impersonate the orc girl by holding two chicken legs in his mouth, the orc girl in question was about to throw a barrel at his head, there was a card game going on in the corner, Spiny Tim seemed to be losing badly judging by the amount of scales on show, and Sherlock was sleeping on the floor while a nearby goat was chewing at his bathing suit.
At least they left the precious carrot tree alone …
